Care tips for your new wooden board
Before use
Patina is part of the character of our wooden boards, but so is care. Even if it sounds complicated, it is worth wiping the wooden boards on both sides with a damp cloth before each use. This means that the wood does not absorb the liquids that come out of the food as quickly. Particularly recommended for aromatic and juicy products such as meat, herbs, beetroot and onions.
Cleaning after use
A “must” first: wooden boards are always cleaned by hand and should never be put in the dishwasher. Leaving it in dishwashing water is also considered a serious foul on the wood, as it causes it to swell and deform. Cleaning is really quite simple: wipe the board on both sides immediately after use with a damp cloth and, if necessary, with a mild detergent. Then dry it, let it stand horizontally and air dry - well ventilated on both sides.
storage
Wood needs air! Please give your wooden board a dry and well-ventilated place for storage.
Care
We would like to recommend that you treat the wooden board regularly with a high-quality, food-safe cooking oil so that you can enjoy this natural product for a long time. Walnut, poppy seed or safflower oil are particularly suitable, as these oils leave a kind of protective film on the wood surface after drying. Using a soft cotton cloth, simply rub the oil as evenly as possible (and not too thickly) onto the clean and dry cutting board. Then absorb excess oil and rub the board dry.
If there is particularly heavy use and signs of wear are already clearly visible, refurbishment may be necessary. To do this, the upper layer of wood can be carefully removed with fine sandpaper. The new and flawlessly smooth surface can then be treated with an oil as described above.
